Description of the SECO programme
The course focuses on teaching the fundamental physical principles of remote sensing, the most advanced data processing techniques and their applications for preparing and analysing observations of the Earth and planets.
This second year, which may be taught in English depending on the cohort of students, offers core courses and two options to choose from among seven. During the year, the programme offers a series of seminars led by experts, practical remote sensing work in the field or using digital technology, an observation internship at the Haut-Provence Observatory, a week-long workshop on artificial intelligence and satellite data analysis at ESA (Italy), and visits to the EUMETSAT and ESOC operational centres (Germany). The year ends with a minimum four-month internship in a laboratory or industry (longer internships and internships abroad are also possible). There are generally between five and ten times more internship opportunities than there are students in the year group.
